What exactly does Family Balance do?

Family Balance is a specialised counselling programme for employees whose children are struggling at school. Our consultants assess the situation, develop an action plan, and follow up so the family can move forward and the employee can focus on their work.

EAP programmes offer general psychosocial counselling. Family Balance specialises in the Danish school system – PPR, municipal processes, special education, and home-school collaboration. This is a niche that EAP typically does not cover.

Our consultants all have experience from the Danish school system as teachers, pedagogues, educational psychologists or social workers. The company was founded by Nathja Mortensen with 16+ years of experience at all levels of the school system.

A standard programme includes 3–5 sessions. All programmes are individual and adapted to the family’s needs.

About the Risk

How do we ensure GDPR compliance?

All data is processed in accordance with GDPR. We provide a data processing agreement. HR only receives anonymised statistical reports – never individual data.

We are advisors, not therapists. Our service is guidance and coordination – not psychological treatment. This significantly reduces legal liability compared to therapeutic services.

We have experience with complex cases and can navigate the municipal system, coordinate with the PPR service, and support families in understanding and using their rights.

No. We advise and coordinate. Formal responsibility remains with the school and municipality. We help families navigate – not take over others’ responsibilities.

We collect data at the start and end of each programme: stress level (self-assessed), attendance rate, the family’s experience of managing the situation.
